can i get my money back?

I started dateing a woman a few months ago that was haveing a hard time, so I loaned her an amount of$500.00 , I never had her sign anything, or have no proof that i gave it to her, I have tried to have her just give it back and get her to admit that i loaned it to her through e-mails.but that has not worked. I have filed a small claims court action against her, id this a waste of time? or should i hire an attorney to help solve the matter

Without a cash receipt, cancelled check, a prom note or other evidence, if "she says no, you gave me no money"; you have no case.
