What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

California.

I am having difficulty determining whether I can legitimately give out wine as a prize for a contest in California. I am not a wine producer or representative of a specifically wine-promotional organization. We are a non-profit promoting the region as a whole (including wine).

My reading of the statutes is that I can safely give out the prize. What I want to be especially careful of is that the wineries who contribute wine to serve as our prize will not get in trouble for donating the wine. Does that constitute promotion for them in a way that violates the statute?

Any help people can give in terms of breaking this down for me would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
