What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa, but divorcing in Nebraska.
I have been separated from my husband for 2.5 years, and my divorce is finally being processed. After a year of separation, I met my now fiance. Part of the reason my divorce is taking so long is not because my husband and I are arguing, on the contrary, we agree on everything and it is amicable; but because my new beau found out he had cancer and we moved out of state for treatment. My question is, when my divorce becomes final in Nebraska, am I as an Iowa resident legally bound to wait the six month waiting period per Nebraska law, or can we marry right away here in Iowa? BTW, my soon-to-be ex knows that we will be getting married, whether we have to wait or not.
