California. I lost my job, Nov. 30 , 2004. I signed up for unemployment ins. with EDD and applied for the WIA program to be retrained in a new profession. I was accepted and was told I could go to school and study for a new profession and not have to actively look for a job. I was also informed that I would have to pay for my own retraining. From the very beginning things started to go wrong. I received my first benefit check ok, but starting with the second one which didn't come instead there was a notice to be available for a telephone interview because of something wasn't marked correctly on my claim form. In the first 5 months I have received no less than 4 telephone interviews and a couple notices to fill out a duplicate claim because their machine either damaged it or was lost while being processed. Each time this happened it delayed that particular check 20 to 25 days. I had bills to pay and was always a month late making them. Well at the 6 month point I get a notice that I have been terminated and because I tried to commit fraud against them they wanted me to pay them back several thousand dollars. I appealed and won but at the cost of being 3 months behind on everything and I almost lost my house to foreclosure. But I was able to sell it. The problem there was I had to sell quick and I took at minimum loss of $100,000.00 on the sale of my home and I haven't been able to find out what type of law this would fall under, if I can sue them for the stress they caused, the loss of monies, this whole mess ruined my life. There is more to this but I didn't want to write a novel. Do I have a case or am I just another victim of our government?

Pay for your own training and support yourself.
We taxpayers are sick of carrying you.

No, you have no case. The State of California does not owe you a life.

Did you just sit on your duff waiting for the State to pay all your bills ???

PS: Suing governmental entities is complex and time-sensitive.
