Today I found out that my financial aid office lost my information, they'd also withheld this from me for over a week. I was wondering if that is a decent thing to sue someone for since that information could very well get into the wrong hands.

I'm going to say something slightly different. Yes. Yes you can sue. No. No it would not be the decent thing to do.

And extra info: you have no basis to maintain a lawsuit. It can very easily dismissed.

You don't get to sue for something that hasn't happened yet and may never happen.
