I applied some time ago with a foster care agency to be considered as a foster parent. A year a 1/2 ago to be exact.
The woman that was assigned to do my home study and I never seemed to never hit it off from day one, she had a serious attitude problem. And it annoyed the crap outta me but still, i was civil. We kept the conversation short and I allowed her to serve her purpose every time she visited my home, and that was that.
Every time she visited something new came up for me to correct. Sometimes it seemed as if she was purposely asking for something else to annoy me. I had to do the paper work twice because she claimed it expired (some 30 pages worth of documents) not to mention days off from work for physicals for myself and my daughter. Days off to redo the finger printing. Sometimes she would set up an appointment and not show up and no phone calls. This went on for 5 visits and streched itself to a year and 1/2. Although it became really annoying i was very compliant and continued to spend money on the things she said i needed.
Back in September of 1999 when i did the training, i was told there were only going to be 2 visits one of which the home finder will determine all that's needed to be corrected or added and the second to finalize and thereafter, no longer than 3 months they will make a determination.
Finally 2 weeks ago, (2001 that is) i recieve a letter of disqualification with no explanation. ????????????
I feel i've been prejudiced against because the home finder (lady) does not like me and her boss, made effort to justify the basis of my disqualification. Now, my biggest issue is what about the $1000+ i spent ajusting things in my house unnecessarily and the time wasted.
1) can i sue them for that money and lost wages for all the days i had to take off?
2) what can i do or to whom (goverment agency) can i complain, to make sure this won't repeat itself with other applicants?
