What is the name of your state? California
Before I go on, I'd like to say this thing has happened with the same Agent with other people I know.
I got a policy from a State Farm Insurance agent because the quote seemed very reasonable. I got a 6 month premium i believe $126/month. After 6 months, my quote increased (i did not have ANY violations or change of address or nothing) to about $143/month. I didn't pay much attention to this and paid it. After 1 year, my monthly payment went to $196. Again I did not have any violations, address change or car change. This is for the SAME car at same address.
So I called the Insurance agent and I was told that I had changed my address, or the address in the State Farm Database for the garaging zip code was changed. I had not moved or changed my mailing or garaging address. So I called customer service for State Farm, and they told me that my garaging address had changed to a not so good neighborhood and thats why my policy got increased.
Even though I pleaded that all my information is correct, they referred me back to the agent. I got fed up with this whole run around and changed my insurance company. Now, I find out the same thing happened with several other people at least 3-5 other people.
I believe the agent used false information to get our business for commission purposes and later on didn't care if we stayed with the company or not.
Is it possible to file a class action lawsuit against this person? And if so, on what basis, and how do I do it?
