In this great country of ours, you are free to sue whomever you wish whenever you please. It does not mean you will win.

I understand that. I guess I should reword my question. Have there been successful cases regarding these types of lawsuits where money is awarded to the complaintant?

Sure.

But simply losing money on an investment is not sufficient.

It is unlikely you will get damages from a person who recommended you go to a private investment group unless he knew the group was far more sophisticated than you had the ability to understand.

**A: was this person state licensed in any way or gave you recommendations in their capacity as say a CPA/accountant, mortgage broker/agent, real estate broker/agent, securities stock broker/agent etc.

And even if he did know they were far more sophisticated, he merely made a "recommendation".

You made the final decision to join the group.

Hold that thought for a minute though... That is still NOT the reason why you lost money!

You lost money because you, along with the investment group members made the wrong investment decisions!!!
