Hi there! I recently bought a manufactured home from a dealership in Colorado 2 months ago. My salesman told me it wouldn't be a problem to have a payment around $340.00 a month for the house, not including the lot rent. This was verbal. At closing I found out my payment is $497.00. I didn't know that by law (i was told by friends) that I had the right to back out of the deal. I signed the papers and have now been living in the home with my son for 2 months. I am very stressed, I had to take on a third job to make ends meet. Also, my salesman started pursuing me at the beginning, we started seeing each other even though he told me in so many words that it was against the rules, after closing he blew me off. I feel he dated me to get a sale. Now, 2 months later, there are repairs they need to do and it's not being done, also they (meaning the repair man, etc.) are not returning my phone calls. I also really need to know what the Colorado law says about recording phone conversations. I just don't trust these people any more. I am filing a claim with the State Attorney Generals office, even thought about going to the news with this. They have treated other single mothers the same way, giving them the hope of being a homeowner with a home they can offord then either taking that hope away or putting them in the position I'm in right now. Sorry this is so long. :)

My response:

Colorado follows the Federal laws regarding wire tapping. Only one person needs to consent on tape; that is, while the recording is on, you can litterally say: "Oh, and by the way, I'm consenting to this conversation being recorded." You don't need the other person's permission. If consent is not on the tape, here's the penalties:

Colorado
Sec. 18-9-303 (West 1995) Criminal: Up to 2 years & $1,000-$100,000 fine. Civil: None.
