What is the name of your state? NY...my husband's nephew was incarcerated for 11 days. He is a drug addict and was caught with a drug. This is his first offense. He was suppose to be out on the 11th. When his grandmother went to pick him up from the jail, the correction officer met her at the door and said "oh you must be waiting for so and so", she said yes. 2 hours goes by and he comes back and says they are not releasing him until the 13th, and could not give her a reason why. Can they do this? She drove 3 hours to get there and was there a total of 6 waiting for him. Faith

The release date was confirmed for the 11th. When my mother-in-law went to pick him up, they knew she was there to pick him up. Between the drive and waiting for him it was over 6 hours. Then she was told they were holding him another two days without an explanation. Can they do this?
