What is the name of your state? PA. I have been on long term disability for three years. I have complied with all request to visit doctors and provided documentation. Recently my payments stopped and the insurance company said that it was a result of my refusal to reply to a letter sent one year ago. I never received the letter and they just stopped paying. They are sending me new forms for me to complete and get reinstated but can thay just stop paying me with out medical documentation??? Please help and thanks in advance for any replies.

A: They think you have not co-operated. Make sure they know your address. If you have moved, make sure the post office has a forwarding order.

I would venture to guess that the reason they stopped payment was a lack of medical documentation. The letter they sent you was probably an updated release requiring your signature, so that they can obtain the medical records from your doctors. So, yes they can do this.
