What is the name of your state? TN
I was dating a girl and she went off on a trip overseas. She recently came back and was a completely different person. She had found another guy and also used some drugs while away. I wanted to write her parents and tell them of the drug use. Can they sue for defamation of character? I have an email in which she talks about some of the drug use.

Why would you want to act like an ass? Grow up and move on.

You can send them a letter and, if it's true, not be sued for defamation of character. However, if I were the girl I would get a TRO against you for being a weirdo. I'd also send a letter to your parents with all the things you ever did wrong. Do you want to just let this go and accept she moved on, or do you want to start a war over it?

Can you be sued? Of course you can.

If what you say is the absolute truth, you might win your side of the case -- but is it worth the time, hassle and attorney's fees to defend yourself?

BB gave you the best possible advice already.
