Recently, I wrote to my boss outlining several things that troubled me at my job. One of the most serious of these was telling persons who have Section 8 that it is accepted as long as they can qualify the same as other applicants. I have a memo from the company's attorney saying this would eliminate the problem. Not all persons on Section are low lifes with bad credit. So I was forced to take their application fees, waste time putting their files together and worst of all, lie to their faces. They do not have a snowballs chance in hell of getting an apartment. He also made remarks that could be considered discriminatory such as "go after young professionals" or "go after families." It got ugly. My boss called me a liar. I told him that I had documentation, witnesses and had retained an attorney.
Well, at the point, one of the company's owners and his 2nd in command called me into the office. I explained what my problem was and they, while defending their stand, asked what could make it better for me. When I left, they gave me the impression that they would not make lie to people with section 8 and that our office would receive an additional person to help out with leasing.
My supervisor told me on Friday that he had a leasing director. I am the Leasing Specialist. The so called Leasing Director is a young man with no experience in residential leasing, but with experience in "boutique" companies that handled corporate apartments. In other words, someone with a title that implies authority over me but has no clue what he's doing. I have a sick feeling that they are trying to use this young man to try and humilate me, to get me to quit. They can't come right out and fire me because this is just too obvious.
I would appreciate any advice!
