We live in Pennsylvania, and are wondering if we could sue our neighbors and their landlord.
We have lived in our home (we rent) for the last 4 years, and these ppl moved in next door a few months ago. When they came, a few weeks after, we noticed that we had roaches. My husband confronted them, and they willingly admitted they brought them with when they moved in. They have NUMEROUS animals that they allow to defecate all over their home. Just about every square inch of their home is trashed. When it is damp we can smell them in our home. (We are attached) The state of their home is verifiable by the exterminators and this person's probation officer.
We didn't move immediately, because that home owner is a "slumlord" and people revolve in and out of this home, we just hoped they would move along.
Our landlord had gotten an exterminator for a year, and paid to have their place done as well. Our township has FINALLY served papers on them to clean their place up, or they are condemning it in 30 days.
Now, if we were to move, we would incur moving expenses and re-connect fees with utilities. Our furniture & electronics are "home" to roaches. My husband and I are at each other over this. Our work is affected, our sleep is affected. Can we sue this home owner and their tenants??
