What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping this is the right place to post this issue and I'll keep it short.

I live in Nevada. My Father and Brother live in B.C. Canada. My Mother passed away as a resident in B.C. Canada a while back leaving a will and naming my Brother executor. Question 1. Do all assets transfer to the surviving spouse when there is an executor?
Question 2. If answer to Q 1. is yes, then how is this done?

You see, my Brother took the will to the 3 banks my Mother had and they turned over access. The will suggested equal division of everything, yet my Father and I received nothing. My Brother said "she didn't have anything" but I know different, I just don't have the money for private counsel not to mention I live in another country.

Are there official process or gov. guidelines or any type of assistance available for people in this type of situation?

Greatly appreciate any assistance - have great day.

Your father and brother live in Canada. Your mother lived in Canada. I'm assuming that the three banks are in Canada. Why would you think that U.S. law would apply in any way, shape or form, especially since your brother is the executor?
