I hope the company will be able and willing to work with our OP. I know our HR experts here will be able to give him good guidance. I just encourage him not to force his complete recovery if he can possibly afford to work with an accommodation and arrange one his company can live with. Taking care of himself is the most important thing here. It's a bet that his employer isn't quite so concerned and will be okay with him working himself into the ground if he's willing.
