My husband had CS payments directly taken from his military retirement for a previous marriage son. The checks were sent directly from the Retirement Office to the CS Agency, then forwarded to his ex. The payments continued to his ex for a year after his son graduated and entered the work force, he did not continue in higher education. My husband submitted the required paperwork to the CS Agency to have the payments stopped, they processed the request, and the auto deduct stopped. That was 3 years ago. Early spring of 2000 the CSA mailed my husband a letter warning him of back support due in the amount of $9000.00. He called the agency to fix the error and they told him it was a computer glitch and hundreds of letters had gone out wrongly accusing of back support, not to worry. Since then he has received 3 more notices with the totals now over $12,000.00.
The CS Agency now tells him that he owes the amount and they will take legal action against him, they do not acknowledge the computer glitch now. He will have to hire a lawyer to fight the accusation. Anyone else have this problem? Please respond.
