What is the name of your state? VICTORIA AUSTRALIA

Hi just a couple of questions relating to employment, I have just recently resigned from my position as a sales consultant with a large company due to posession of an illegal substance for my own personal use, although I have not admitted guilt in any way relating to the accusations I felt it was better to leave the company than to stay.

My main question is does my manager or the manager of the company have any rights to discuss the sitaution or my resignation with any of the other employees in the office?

What rights to privacy do I have in this sort of situation?

thanks cc

My response:

Wow! The United States Congress is fast! I hadn't realized that the United States had annexed Australia as a Territory. I've got to write to my State Senator and Congress Person.

My response:

Australians sure are ignorant; or, they really are stupid.

Did you even BOTHER to read the instructions at the top of this page? Here, I'll help you: "U.S. Law Only".

Okay. You want an answer? Here's an answer.

Under US law, which is all this site handles, your manager or your employer could legally discuss your resignation with anyone they choose. If they wanted to, they could take out a billboard on the interstate explaining the circumstances of your resignation, and there wouldn't be a darned thing you could do about it.

Australian law and US law are not necessarily the same. No one here has any idea what Australian law may say on the same subject. You will need to discuss that with an Australian lawyer.
