In october of 97', my boyfriend at the time backed into my car. At the time, he was willing to pay for the damages and did not want to go through the insurance co.. The damage was $800 and he agreed to pay the cost. However, when it came time to pick up the car, he said that I should pay and that he would pay the money back. Since then, I have had contact with him, but he ignores me and keeps blowing me off. Can I still take him to small claims court? What legal actions can i take to get the money back?

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

You may be barred by the statute of limitations. I would consult with the court clerk (see small claims court on freeadvice.com's homepage and see what he/she thinks about the prospect of getting your money. Ie. would the judge allow it?

You can get away with a lot more in small claims court than you can in regular court.

Hope this helps.
