about two weeks ago I was in a car accident, but it was not my fault. We did not call the police, but did exchange tag numbers and names & addresses. I got 5 estimates. Is he responsible for paying to repair my car with no police report or insurance?

My response:

Yes, he's responsible for paying the lowest estimate. It makes no difference whether there was insurance or a Traffic Collision Report - - the law of negligence and the particular vehicle code that was violated are controlling. However, without a Collision report, what if he decides to change his mind, and says you were at fault?

Did you take pictures of the damage to both vehicles, and the area of the accident? Did you get the names, etc., of any witnesses? Is there something in writing where he admits to fault?

Good luck.

He is wanting me to get two more estimates because he feels these are way too high for the damages. Do I have to get any more?

My response:

No. Five estimates are plenty. He's putting you off and wasting your time. Sue the bum.
