What is the name of your state? N.Y. I have recently purchased a used car from Major World. and I was told that the bank does not call to verify employment. I recieved a call the next day asking for proof of employment and they never Identified them self to me.. I did not know who it was so I said no one here by that name. then later on that day the salesman that sold me the car calls me and said that the bank who was capital one rejected my loan. and that I now have to reapply for another one and that my payments will be more. to me we already have an agreement for the set amount and they are telling me that the contract is void. yet I have the car in my possesion and they gave it to me with out knowing if I was aprroved. My question is are they liable to find me a loan with the same apr rates and monthly payments or am I still going to have to pay more as they said?

Read you agreement. All loans are contigent on approval from a lending institution. If the dealer is unable to complete the deal as offered, you can accept other terms or return the vehicle. Your choice.

So, no, the car dealer wasn't being fraudulent in their dealings. However, you should know better than to lie on the phone. All you had to do was ASK who was calling, since they didn't initially identify themselves. They probably didn't identify themselves to save you the embarrassment of someone answering the phone and potentially thinking that you were delinquent on your auto loan payment.
