I recently traded in my leased car and put a downpayment on a new lease of a Nissan X-Terra. We told the salesman we had some financial trouble in the past but we had been leasing with no problem from Ford for years. This was on a Sunday and it took all day to get an OK and a handshake to get the deal. On Tuesday we took the car back to get floormats and we were told we didn't get approved from their bank for the lease and they wanted their car back now. We were shouting at each other at the dealership. They gave me my old car back and voided the agreement. What recourse do I have. Should I have said no and left with the agreement? I live in Fl. Thanks.

I am dealing with a similair situation with a dealership. I recently went to a dealership to purchase a vehicle. They told me my credit was not good enough and could not finance me. After a week or so the salesman called me back and told me that he found a way to finance me and get me the car. Someone just brought a vehicle back to the dealership because they wanted to trade it in for a 4 door. They asked if I signed a contract if I would be willing to co-sign on the loan and take over the payments. The contract written up was legal in the eyes of my attorney friend so I went ahead with the deal. 3 weeks after a purchased the vehicle and applied for all the paperwork (title, refinancing for loan) I had police arrive at my door to arrest me for stealing my own car. The car I purchased under the roof of a well known dealership was a stolen vehicle. At this point I am out the deposit on the car (which was forged) and the car I signed for. I have been working with the person who reported the vehicle stolen and it was not even her who brought the car back, it was her ex-husband and the dealer knew what was going on. I am working with an attorney also to see if the dealership is liable since the deal was done with them. He said they are responsible for what they did and I am owed what is coming to me. I know this not be much but I hope it helps. I meet with the attorney again tomorrow and as I get more advice or what direction you should go, I will share it with you. Good Luck!!!!! By the way, any paperwork you have is worth gold in the hands of an attorney.
