Took my car to the shop for a new air conditioner. They installed a new compressor and in the process broke the oil sending unit which is right next to the compressor. Within 24 hours all the oil drained out of my car and the engine is ruined. Of course they deny doing the damage, claiming I must have run over something in the road. I did not, and my car was running perfectly before the work. I want to file a claim with their insurance but am facing resistance from the store mgr. How best to pursue this and prove my claim?

My response:

You'll need to have another mechanic inspect the vehicle, and in writing, render a professional opinion about the problem. If the opinion is favorable to you, then file an action against the first mechanic, and the business, in Small Claims court. Subpoena your expert to court so he / she can testify.
