I got a 78" cutlass from my mom for free, about three years ago. since that time i have been getting it rebuilt from the same repair shop. about 7 months ago i put a rebuilt transmission and a rebuilt engine in it. before i had these parts put in, i asked if the work was warrentied and the manager told me i had 2yrs on the parts and 1 yr on the labor so i went ahead and did it. when my boyfriend picked it up he had him put the warrenty in writing on the receipt, i have the carbon copies. now, 7 months later, the trans is burnt on it and the manager is no longer there. the owner says my warrenty is not ligit because it is hand written and he doesn't have the copy of it. i have 3 receipts (all carbon copies) one with the estimate, one with the work order, and the last when i paid and picked up ( this one has the warrenty on it)the first two have my signature and the third has my boyfriend's. all have the manager's signature. can you tell me if he's respomsible to honor my warrenties? He says the company where he got the trans only has a 60 day warrenty! also, should i risk getting more bad work done on it or take it to court? i'm in the state of michigan
