What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california

I cosigned for a car the owner hasnt paid, the car is in repo status, the dealer called me and wants me to find the car for him to pick up or he sending me to collections and i have to pay huge fine. Problem is I dont know where the owner or car is, and I cant get a hold of her. Can someone walk me through the steps I need to do. like
1. Hire a PI find where she and the car is.
2. Hire a repo service etc..

I'm really lost Ive never been in this sorta situation before thanks for any help.

It is not your rersponsibility to find the car and the owner!!!!! You will be stuck with the bill anyway and will have to pay for the car. You are sure in a pickle!!

The only necessary step is to write a check for the deficiency. That is what you agreed to do when you cosigned.

X2...

than pursue the person who defaulted, and sue them for the deficieny plus any other fees associated with the repo and for running down your credit score...

and learn to NEVER co-sign for family or friends.
