I began a used car lease through Fair, a company that leases vehicles for rideshare drivers in June of 2018. The registration expired in October 2018 and I was never sent new registration. Not being able to drive the car legally, I contacted Fair on three separate occasions for them to send the registration and they never did. I stopped making payments on the vehicle and it was repossessed in the first week of January 2019. The repo yard now wants $70 for me to take my personal belongings from the vehicle and Fair still wants the remaining balance on the car even though I wasn't able to legally drive the car and they didn't pay for registration on the car and presumably the repossession fees as well. What legal obligations does fair have either before or after the repossession? Is it worth hiring an attorney to deal with the matter? What can I do personally to get my belongings back?

What state?

After you tell us the name of the state, perhaps you can tell us why you think you aren't responsible for paying the registration on a leased vehicle.
