I purchased a car a week ago.I asked the salesman what he wanted and what he would give me for a trade - in.He told me what he wanted for the vehicle I was looking at and said take it for a drive and I will look at yours and tell you what I will give you for it.I came back after the test drive and he told me he would give me 2,000.00 for my vehicle as a trade in.He wanted 5,988.00 for the vehicle I wanted. The dealer works closely with our bank,he said go talk to our loan officer and they would start the paperwork. We returned to the dealer and he made up the contract, but the salesman was a different salesman than the one who quoted us the price. While filling out the sales contract and loan papers he looked at me and said 3,800.00 and your car,I said yes.So he wrote that down and we all signed it,and we left with the car.Next day the original salesman calls and tells my wife to send 188.00 that they made a mistake. She laughed at him and said no,so he says Ok I will make out a new sales contract and mail it,sign it and return it.Do I have to sign it?The original one is signed by us and the salesman and as far as I am concerned is legal. My bank has not recieved the title or loan papers from the dealer yet. My response:

No, you don't have to sign any new contracts. Your current contract, as well as the car, is signed, sealed and delivered. This was the mistake of the dealership, and they are just going to have to "eat it".

Inform them if they don't perform under the contract, by failing to send the title to the lender, and send the registration to the DMV as they are required to do, you will take immediate legal action, and report them to the DMV.
