car stop running with in 12 hours from used car dealer

my sister inlaw just bought a 1995 mitsubishi 3000GT today from a used car dealer as is... she got almost home than the car engine started to smoke then the car broke down ........the dealer said for her to pay the tow truckand bring it to their car lot and they will fix it for a fee...
Is their anything she can do , since its less then 12 hours since she bought the car????
