What is the name of your state?Florida

I was recently given a car as a gift from a friend. She gave me the title but put gift/trade on the title. I cannot get the title or tag because of this. I can no longer reach this friend. What can I do with the car? Is it legal to give it away?

There's no law against it. Assuming you can get somebody to accept it with a bad title.

Rather than throwing away potentially good money, check with the DMV and see if you can post a bond to get a good title.
