Back in august of 2001 I asked my roomate if he would do me a big favor and buy a car in his name for me and would pay for everything. He was totally cool about it, he said it would help his credit. Well we bought the car and I payed for the downpayment, registatrion, insurance, and have paid every month, until recently. He has decided he wants to keep the car all of a sudden and take it from me when our apartment lease is up. Can I file a small claim for the monehy i paid for the car up untill now. If I show all the checks written and bank statements from my account will that make a difference?

Q1) "Can I file a small claim for the monehy i paid for the car up untill now."
A1) Yes, you can file a claim... but I predict you won't win anything. The problem here is that the vehicle is in his name. And without a 'repayment' agreement, any payments that you made on his car were 'gifts'.

Q2) "If I show all the checks written and bank statements from my account will that make a difference?"
A2) No.

Also, lets not forget the mileage and use that you put on HIS car.
