What is the name of your state?Maryland
Could there be a problem with this? I have 2 accounts on my report that are CA's but no reference to any OC that would also appear. One is from Credit Protections Assoc. With an account open date of 6/1/03 and the account is closed adn another from Credit Management INC with a closed account with a date opened of 10/1/98.
They are both CAs and there is no other reference to similar accounts.
As far as I know they have not contacted me for a while if at all(have been ignoring mail for a while untill I found you guys ) I want to know what is going on(re. re-aged accounts...) but am honestly terrified of contacting them because of possible future harrassment from these CAs.
The one in 2003 is shown being charged off the same month the account was "opened" as well as in march 2003.
Not too worried about the second one as it is supposed to fall off within the next year or two.
How can I innitiate contact for validation without being harrassed? I am pretty sure that one if noth both are past SOL but I have no idea what they are for.
What sould I do??
Thanks
Sorry I keep posting about little things I am learning and noticing things alot now and all that I learn just raises more questions :D

Since the original creditor are NOT on your reports, then its possible that these debts had already aged off your reports. IF that is the case, then these 2 CA's have illegally re-aged the debt to keep it on your reports long. NO COLLECTION can survive the obsolesence of the ORIGINAL DEBT, that 'date of first delinquency' that starts the reporting period can NOT be changed - not legally. If a CA is reporting an OBSOLETE debt, they're violating the FCRA.

You might try an indirect approach and dispute the 2 CA tradelines with the credit bureaus first. By law they must contact the furnisher of that information to 'verify' your dispute. Don't just say 'its not mine', you say 'I've never had an account with that number for that amount of money and have no knowledge of this creditor'.

I take it you don't have any old credit reports to check these against ?

Unfourtunatly no. But I do remember the OC being there about 3 years ago when I had one pulled. I think one of them was an old credit card debt that may have been sold to arrow recently. The higher one may be that one and if it is then Arrow is attempting to collect twice as much money from me on it and the original debt was in early 1996. I sent them(Arrow) the SOL Letter on Friday. There is an inquiry from arrow on my CR so I am now putting two and two together.
Thanks :)
