What is the name of your state?-Florida
I was married for about 3 years. My ex-wife quit working about a year into the marriage claiming an illness that the doctors were never able to name. During this time I paid all the bills. When we were divorced, I refinanced the house and bought her a condiminium outright (her choice) and agreed to pay her support until she was able to work again. It has now been 5 years and she is showing no signs of even trying to go to work. She is active and appears generally much healthier than she did. I am a nice guy and agreed to this because I did not want to see her destitute, but I want to get on with my life and do not think I should have to pay this forever. There were no children.

The court order only says that I agreed to pay the specified amount until she is able to work or unless I involuntarily am unable to pay due to loss of work.

Good heavens. You were only married THREE YREARS. Why would you agree to unlimited term alimony? Did you fight it?
