What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MN

If a casual employee (less than 14 hours per week) requests a medical leave of absence in excess of 3 days, are there any requirements to grant it? Is this at the discretion of the supervisor with no legal obligation to provide job-protected leave? There is no policy with the employer that exists on this subject and the CBA for this type of employee specifies that only Part Time (14 hours per week) and above are covered by the agreement.

Thanks!

If the employee does not qualify for FMLA, which not if they have worked 14 hours a week over the past year, then I am not aware of any requirement to allow them to take time off. It would be at the discretion of the employer.

Is this person receiving any company paid benefits? If not what is the harm in taking them off the schedule for a while?
