What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas

My husband was sent a subpoena to testify in a murder trial in Arizona. The state of AZ paid for food, lodging and travel expenses, but could not pay for lost wages as a conflict of interest - this is understandable. His employer does not want to pay him for his time either as they gain nothing from it - this too is understandable.

Is there any legal obligation the employer has to pay wages?

This is a catch 22 for the out of state witness - fail to appear - face arrest - appear as required and loose wages.

No there isn't. Why would you think the employer is obligated to pay for your spouse's wages when they are a witness in a murder trial and are not working? The employer wasn't a party to the trial were they? (don't answer - rhetorical)
