Ok this is a long winded problem. Basically Back in 4/06 I started getting harrassed by text messages through my Nextel cell phone. At first I ignored hoping they would go away, but this was someone who knew me and said very personal private things to me that few would know. The guy I was dating started getting text messages on his phone about me, and saying completely untrue things about me. (for instance they would say that I was at their house, but at the time I was with him) So finally, I decided what the hell. Let me change my number.

So I did. The crank calls and text messages started again shortly after I changed my number. I couldn't figure out how they had my new number. Finally my phone services started getting disconnected (restricted from making outgoing calls or accepting incoming) I would call Nextel they would tell me that I called to restrict services when I hadn't. Between the month of October and November 2006 my phone was restriced total 48 times. 48 TIMES in one month! I had to talk to Nextel CS every time to get it turned back on... each time they said that I did it. I changed passwords, and they had a note on my account that if someone was to change it in anyway to hang up and call my cell for verification. They also informed that it was the same employee ID who did the restriction. I had asked Nextel CS on several occasions if I could make these changes online. And they repeadetly told me NO! NO WAY POSSIBLE! Stupid me I believe them. I would get text messages about what I was doing during the day, how my boyfriend didn't h elp me carry the groceries in the house, or how they seen my boyfriend and I out at the bar... so on and so forth. Again, I change my phone number after getting really sickening perverted text messages about my teenage daughter. Not even 25 minutes after changing my number they had called me again. So I went and signed up online for my Nextel account. Low and behold the same email address that stalked me, also had access to my account. There was how they were shutting off my service.
(Thanks to Nextel Customer Service, all 40 different ones of ya I talked to for being so UN-FREAKIN HELPFUL)
So that stopped as I regained control of my online account.
In good measures, I changed my number for the 4th time in less then a year... and my two-way number (as they reached me through that). 1 week... the messages started back up again. My current boyfriend receives them talking about how they are going to do disguisting things to me when they "get me". There have been a few nights when we come home and our trash was gone through... or our spotlite was on... even though its far from sensitive. (don't detect animals). My landlord downstairs says that twice now she interruped someone going through my mailbox Its just CREEPY.
So I call the cops... Nothing they can do with a public domain email addy and private numbers. Basically I got a Call us when you got something for us... Thats it! And I tried both my city and his city cops...Nothing. I have called Sprint Nextel and NOTHING.

Do I have to be killed before I can do ANYTHING? Its starting to affect my everyday life. I work odd hours and come home sometimes 3-4am. I'm scared. My boyfriend gets up in the middle of the night to come downstairs and open the door before I even think about shutting my car off! I hate this!

This weekend... was the final straw. I had to change my number again Last Monday, and I got these text messages. That said stuff about my boyfriend, they had a number on it! FInally something!!!!!! I went to the cops and told the number... again, nothjing they can do yet. And Sprint (the carrier of the stalker) can do nothing... they won't g ive me a name of who it is. This morning when I went out to my car, I realized I hadn't locked it the night before (very unusual considering) and all the contents of my glove box were out on my passenger seat.

I'm at a loss here. I fear that one day I will be attacked and killed, only then can the cops or cell phone provider do "anything". Is there some sort of legal thing I can do to m ake Sprint Nextel take action. One of their customers is harrassing another customer, also they illegally signed up for my account on their website?

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated and needed.

Thanks
Sarah Lynn

Stalker & Cell Phone Intrigue

I highly empathize with your unfortunate situation. We have currently another thread dealing with an insidious stalker, "professional" kidnappers, and special agents. I cannot give you specific advice at the moment other than an offer to retain a private investigator. It would be more helpful, however, if you fleshed out the timeline in your story with further situational details.

This really isn't a defamation action. Bruno's advice about hiring a private investigator to track down your stalker is a good idea. Once you identify him, you can get a restraining order.

You may want to re-post this under Other Crimes - Federal and State so that you have access to the knowledge of the posters there.
