in 1994 i bought a cd for 5,000 for my niece, maturity was on 1999,the cd is in her name with me being the representative,it is in her ssi number also,on the bottom the bank took the liberty of adding this to it,with out my permission(not to be withdrawn until minor reaches 18 or upon the order of a court compentent jurisdiction),she is only 14 now and i never thought to check it when they sent it to me.the term was for 5 yrs, reaching maturity in 1999 with automatic renewal, how do i deal with this bank and what can i do to cash it in,what are my rights as a representative, she is collecting ssi money from her fathers disability and she is not allowed to own anything over 2,000. if i can't cash it in(she owes me money for damages she did to a property)the ssi office will take it on her.help please,i live in pennsylvania.i did not give the bank permission to include this on the cd.
