What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Nevada

I have been attending college taking pre-requisite classes towards a major for the last four years. Recently the criteria for my major has changed without any notice given. The new changes will go into effect as of 2007. I was only three classes away from applying for my major when i was told that some of my classes no longer apply and that other classes have been added. Can a college change its criteria like this? Is there any laws governing changes in college curriculum?

Q: Can a college change its criteria like this?

A: Yes.

Q: Is there any laws governing changes in college curriculum?

A: One that I know of is the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. There may be others.

Have you made appeals up the line through your major dept., college dean, and Academic Standards Committee? Each of these has the power to make wavers.

But, you say the new criteria doesn't take effect until 2007 and you only need 3 classes to graduate.....so how does the new criteria stop you from finishing in compliance with the old criteria? You have been taking prereq classes for 4 years? Are you even taking enough credits to be considered a matriculating student?

Are you at one of the CCs planning on transferring to UNR or UNLV (or Hooterville State....excuse me..."Nevada State College")? If you are heading toward NSC your plight may be due to their requirements changing in order to meet accreditation standards. Are these classes general requirements such as humanities, history, or math...or are they specialty classes like accounting, real estate, etc.?
