My son who currently resides with his mother in Illinois wishes to live with me in Seattle. His mother is agreeable. My questions are: 1) what steps must we take to modify the custody and support order in the Illinois courts, 2) can we do this without using an attorney, 3) if we decide on joint custody, do we have to file a parenting plan, 4) if we both agree on an amount of child support that she will pay me, can it be less than the state mandated 20% of her income, and 5) do her payments go through the State Disbursement Unit as mine did?
