my father (divorced in PA) has been paying alimony to his ex-wife 25+yrs. in their settlement he had a modest life ins policy on himself in case he died and she had to take care of the kids alone. he let the policy lapse in the 80s (bc the kids were 30yrs.) she never remarried. now since she knows that his doctors gave dad 6mo to live, she checked on that old policy- and wants to "settle amicably" bc he let the policy lapse. should she still be collecting alimony after so many years? does she have a case even though that policy was intended to protect the kids?

If the original court order clearly states that the policy was for supporting the children, then she has no case. What exactly does she want? He will not be able to get another policy today and alimony will stop when he dies..
