Hi I live in California. I violated a rental agreement by having more that one person residing in a room I rent. On 5/16/01, the landlord served me a written notice stating that I have 30 days to move out. Today, on 05/19/01, he served another notice stating since I haven't paid the rent for May that the effective 30 days starts on 5/01/01 which only gives me only 15 days. I like to know if this is legal. Can I stay the full term and just owe one month+ a pro rate from 6/01 to 6/16. Thanks in advance.

NO if you stay past June 1st you will owe for the whole month.....where do people get this nutty idea of pro-rating rent?

The rent is from the 1st to the last day of the month.

UNLESS the landlord has a tenant ready and willing to sign a lease on the 16th of june

After all do you think the landlord should lose ANOTHER half a months rent on YOU?........ NO WAY!
