Changing the custodial parent

my boyfriend would like to know how to change the custodial
parent, from his exwife, who is now serving time in prison
for cps vilations. what can be done. he has had tempory
custody of his son since jan of 2001.

Is this temp custody a court order? If so maybe you can petition the court to modify to have it changed. If not if you can't afford an attorney you can go to the courthouse and file yourself. Good Luck
