We live in California. We are considering on filing a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy because we are being sued. If we settled, we do not have the liquidated assets to pay them off. Would Chapter 13 Bankruptcy force us to pay off all of our credit cards in our name or would it allow us to pay off the lawsuit only. The amount is $24,000 plus and minus the attorney's fees. We have two homes and Chapter 7 will enforce us to forclosed one home. Please advise as soon as possible. We have to make decision by next week June 1, 2001.
