What is the name of your state? IL

My cousin has a pacer account and she checks it periodically to check the status of her case, is that a sign of incurring new debt or is new debt more along the lines of going out there and purchasing a new car or getting a credit card before your discharge?

What?

Your post is a little confusing...

Checking the status of your pacer account is basically checking to see if your BK has been discharged... It has nothing to do with monetary amount or value...

Sorry..next question!

Sorry, dumb question earlier.... Looking at pacer, what does it mean when it states "request for discharge order?" Obviously I know what it means but does this mean the case is closed or just nearly closed?

If you have NOT received a notice of discharge in the mail or the PACER account does not show a discharge, then the BK has NOT been discharged...

How long has it been since the 341 meeting? Generally it is 60 days post 341 meeting, than you get a discharge notice...

It states that the "reqeuest for discharge order" says that it is discharged as of the 18th but it i guess i am waiting for a certificate of discharge. looking at another case the only diifference between the two is that the certificate shows all of your debts. I was along the lines can anyone else like creditors or trustee do anything or they pretty much had there chance due to the deadlines?

IF the pacer states it is discharged on the 18th, than yes, the BK has been discharged... There may be a delay in getting you the paperwork...

The time between the 341 meeting(usually 60 days) and official discharge is the amount of time ALL your creditors get to dispute/contest your discharge... If they do not make a claim within that timeframe, they miss out. You at that time are dissolved of all responsibility for said debts...
