What is the name of your state? New Jersey
My daughter had a bankruptsy in Hawaii. I t has been discharged. Now she lives in New Jwersey. She tried to open a checking account and since she included a bank in Texas in her bankrupsy they will not let her open an checking account. When she closed the account in Texas she tried to make sure they had all their charges and that they were even. They said they were and then later they said she oqed $62. Because she didn't feel that she did she included it in the bank ruptsy. Now they have red flagged her or something and she can't even get s checking accouunt. What can she do and is that legal?

Many banks(if not most) now have ChexSystems or something similar to red flag "deadbeats"(as they consider them, no offense intended).
I wasn't able to get a checking account for a long time when I closed an account and they said I owed them money and refused to pay.
I went as far as going against my attorneys advice and left the checking account I now have, open. This has saved me the hassle of worrying about trying to open one after my discharge.
