When I filled for BK in 11/04 I had a negative balance in my checking account. The bank automatically closed the account when notified of the BK. I never had the chance to pay the negative balance. Now the BK is discharged can I go open a account since it was in BK or will I need to pay off the balance to get off check systems?

Have you verified that you are on Chex Systems? If you have been reported you will be on Chex for 5 years and most banks that use the service will not open an account for you. Especially if there is money owed. To find out for sure you can call 800-428-9623.
