What is the name of your state? Ohio

I have a dear friend who is now 26 years old. She finally become sober from drugs/alcohold almost three years ago and has attended AA/CA meetings regularly. She is now doing counseling and during the sessions has started to remember and discuss sexual abuse her father did to her. She has become angry with him now remembering the abuse, but is unsure if she can get any justice for it. Her father is an arrogant and unpleasant person to be around and would never admit nor apologize. They have never had a good relationship. Her mother and father were divorced before the abuse started from her father. It matter of factly started to happen shortly after the divorce because she lived with her father. Is there anything she can do? This would cause a huge upset in the family with her siblings, and she feels it better not to start trouble if nothing can happen.

Honestly, her best bet is to continue in counseling so that she can learn to cope with whatever happened to her, and get past it so that SHE can move on with HER life. It's unlikely charges would be filed or there would be any legal consequences for her father - VERY unlikely. It's also unlikely that seeking revenge will assist in her recovery at all.
