child arrearage payments

i live in texas, and owe back child support payments. my children are grown. recent judgement took 65% of my social security disability payments, my only income. i will be getting a job shortly. what guidelines are to be used to set the amount? i cannot live on 35% of my net income. i thought there was a limit at 50%. how can i protect more of my income for my own survival?
