What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

If your child is arrested and taken into custody, do the authorities have to tell you where your child is being taken? and do they have to notify you of the charges and all future locations of your child if he is moved?

So is this your child or someone else's kid?

Its general question thats all, (no and before the rants start the parents are distraught enough not knowing where their child has been taken. They do NOT have a computer, and are on a very fixed income, All we want to know is if they authorities have to keep them informed. Yes or no....they nor I can afford the 100+ consultation to find that simple yes or no answer. ) He was arrested today age 15 , his parents were told he can have no contact with anyone nor can they with him and his location will not be disclosed. They have custoday, he is not a ward of the state, They are not found by the courts to be unfit. THey are just concerned and asked if I knew if it was legal, so I asked. Thank you for your help.

wow, it was pretty clear the answer is no....Do you guys avoid the yes or no answer becuase it is not known? Im not trying to be rude in anyway but I come here to get answers wether I am looking for myself or to help someone else is irrelevant. If the answer is yes it is legal to withold the information from the parents then they can stop grasping at straws to find out what no one will tell them, If the answer is no it is against the law to withold your childs location from the parent then I personally will find a way to get them the retainer to get a lawyer. However its not something I can really afford to just put out if the answer is the law is yes the information can be with held from them. (I'm almost sorry I asked, but I believe in helping people and I came here because i have in the past gotten very good information. However seems no one wants to give the advice if your helping someone else out!!!!):(

At the end of the day, most of us prefer to deal with the actual people involved, not friends, family, etc. It just makes it easier. You could invite your friends to use your computer, so they could ask about their situation themselves. You know, get rid of the middle man.

Why could you not allow the actual parent access to your computer so that THEY could ask their OWN questions. BTW; Most, if not ALL, library's in this wonderful country, have FREE INTERNET ACCESS.
