While driving through a residential neighborhood my car was struck in the right rear quarter panel by a youngster riding a bicycle. He was riding on a street perpendicular to the one on which I was traveling and was unable to stop his bike in time to avoid impact. I was driving at the posted speed limit (25 mph) and saw him approaching my vehicle only seconds before impact. The accident was witnessed by the boy's father who indicated to me that he observed his son to be in the wrong. The boy appeared to be uninjured, but was holding his hand. A black rubber mark approximately two feet long was rubbed into my rear quarter panel. Upon ascertaining that the boy was not seriously injured, I continued on my way. To my knowledge, the police were not informed of this incident. My husband (a former police officer) informed me that the police should always be notified in the event of personal injury or suspected personal injury. Please advise. Thank you for your kind attention. This incident occurred in the state of Rhode Island.

YES you should have reported it, and MOST IMPORTANTLY TAKE PICTURES OF THAT 2 FOOT MARK!

If the kid hit you in the rer of the car, it would be his fault....

But remember there are a lot of scummy people in this world....and the daddy might be one of them.....

And will sue you in a few weeks...JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT! and to see of he can screw you out of some moneeeeey......
