I live in Johnson City Tn, and my kids are in Texas with their father. He and I were never married and we have three kids together. I have been trying for a long time to work something out with him in order to have equal time with the kids. The kids have constantly gone back and forth, he has even been arrested for taking the kids across state lines but that was resolved because I did not want to press charges. Last year in June of 1999 we agreed that the kids would go home with him and I would be able to pick them up by Thanksgiving, that never happened. So after numerous attempts of talking to him and never talking to the kids in February of 2000 I decided to go and get the kids from Texas. When I got there the officials at the school would not let me see the kids, the police were called and then the child protective services were called. They decided to let the kids say who wanted to stay or go. My baby girl wanted to leave with me and the other two stayed. So after talking on the phone with their father thinking things had changed I let the kids go visit for a few weeks before school in August. When the time came everything changed and being afraid of what might happen I was afraid to do anything. So I feel that it is time for closure on this deal and I should be able to have time with my kids just as well as he can. He feels that since I am not with him that his kids won't be raised by anyone else but on his end he is married and my kids are around her but in his eyesight that's okay. please help

You stated you were never married, so has he established paternity of the children through the courts? Is there a court order stating who has custody? If there is not,... might I suggest that be your first step?
Right now you both have equal rights by law.. if you allow him to make the rules as he goes along, he will continue to run roughshod over you. You should also get a stipulation about the visitation since he doesnt seem willing to return the children from visitations.
